Smooth Leather
- Smooth leather is commonly known by most people and is one of the most frequently used for the production of high quality leather goods such as shoes, bags and upholsteries. Smooth leather can be all types of leather. Normally, smooth leather has natural, polished look and can be found as surface-coloured (pigmented) and porous (aniline leather).
- Surface-coloured leather is less sensitive to stains and fading, meaning that it do not allow drops to penetrate the surface due to the coating. While aniline leather is more beautiful and soft but yet water drop and stain are penetrate into the leather more easily.
Suede & Nubuck
- Nubuck is made of the outer layer of the calfskin, then sanded from the exterior of the skin. Shoes made from nubuck tends to be more expensive and more durable than suede due to the outer layer of calfskin or other animals’ skin is tougher. Naturally imperfection of appearance of the leather gives unique character to the nubuck.
- In contrary, suede is made from the inner of the calfskin or other animals skins such as sheep, lamp, or cow. The best way is treating your suede shoes with water proofing products and brushing them regularly with a suede brush would be a best way to remain its beauty.
Patent Leather
Patent leather is leather that has been finished with chemicals that give it a shiny, reflective surface. Be caution of scratches, colour distortion.
Greased Leather
Greased leather or so called waxed leather is robust smooth leather or nubuck leather of which greasy or waxy finish is applied.
